Name the Newt

.

Those looking for Skywatch Friday today,
Scroll down one post after reading this.

Between August 1-15 they are conducting a "Name the Newt" contest over at Transient Light Photography for their new mascot. The winner will be announced September 1 on their Web site. That lucky person will receive a matted presentation of the September Print of the Month. Click on the link above or click here.

That's a great deal. I have already entered.

J. W. Moore is what I consider one of the Master Photographers of our time and he has an understanding of light matched by very few photographers past or present. When I think of B/W, I think of Ansel Adams, and when I think of color and the use of light, I think of Elliot Porter and Jim Moore.

Here's the Mascot

Red Eft

Don't just go over there to enter the contest, stop and read a couple of articles and view some of his great work. Go back tomorrow and read a few more posts. Bookmark this site for sure.

PS: Scroll down for "A day at the Beach" and lots of "Texas Rarities Butterflies"

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support, Troy & Martha. THANKS!

I've been tracking the submissions from the July Newsletter's promo as a pre-publication announcement for newsletter subscribers only (currently 193, but more each week). Now, with the blog post and your efforts to promote it, as well as those of others, I can measure the difference in effectiveness.

BTW, those were mighty kind words you said about me and my pics. I'll try to live up to them.

Thanks again, Jim

I love it ... it reminds me of the salamanders were used to capture as kids when we went to the 'country' in the summer

Off to check out that contest

Can we name the newt 'Gingrich'?

Inquiring minds want to know... ;-)

Hi Troy and Martha,

Well, I got my entry in for the newt last night -- it's top secret now, but I'm pretty confident I'm going to win if there isn't a tie... (LOL, --in my book also stands for Lots Of Luck) Man, do I ever want one of Jim's prints...

Happy Sky Watch Friday...

Best regards, Don.

(P.S.: I had to call Epson and get another printer on it's way -- something went wrong with the power supply after only two printing sessions, but that R2660 is a dream)
