Alaska Sunday XXVII

It's Photo Day Today

Today's photos are from the trip to Alaska. They are from Yellowstone (my favorite National Park). These were taken on the way back from Alaska. We stopped to spend one day, but instead it took us 5 days to see a small part of the Park. We will go back in a couple of years and spend a week and see some of the remaining parts of the Park that we missed.

I will do a more complete post on Yellowstone in the future (complete with Elk, Bison, Antelope, waterfalls, etc.). This post was inspired by an HD cable TV program by National Geographic last night. I woke up at 3:30 AM and could not sleep.

It's a photographers paradise and the colors are phenomenal.

Thank you for the marvellous tour! I can understand that it is a photographer's paradise. The GBs would have disappeared fast.

Favourite: Maybe the pool edge with the bacteria. I enjoyed the patterns it made very much.

The colours ARE phenomenal ... I don't think I can pick a favourite from the bunch ... I like them all.

Unlike most of your Alaska trip posts, this one deals with someplace I have visited, about 15 years ago. Your photos are beautiful, and brought back so may good memories. The person I'm really envious of regarding Yellowstone is my brother. He works for a biotech firm, and some years ago got permission to enter the park on snowmobile after the roads had closed. He collected samples of thermophilic bacteria and algae for research purposes. He describes it as an amazing experience.

Positively stunning shots! They all pull at something in my chest, they make me ache to experience that kind of beauty! WOW!

I love 'Pool Edge Showing Bacteria' best, even though it's not nearly as impressive and awe inspiring as the rest. The contrasting colors and textures and the abstract quality of it make it my favorite.

The sky and the light is fantastic in the small geyser shot. But I love them all.

Ansel Adams would be impressed by all of these even if they are in color! That river shot, especially, made me think of his work.

What a treat -- great Yellowstone shots...
And yup, I've been to Yellowstone a handful of times -- even got lost in the woods (with the bears) for an hour or two when I was a kid...
I'd love to go back again...

I thoroughly enjoyed ALL the photos. I’ve visited Yellowstone a few times … the last of which was more than 30 years ago. It’s heart-warming to know this beautiful National Park remains for others to see even now. It’s amazing that the Aster can survive on the salt terraces as are the VIVID colors of the ‘lush growth’ in the small creek. Thanks for sharing ;--)
Hugs and blessings,

I've never been to Yellowstone but gosh, if I had the opportunity I would be tickled pink!
These are amazing photos... the colors are impressive... the bacteria pool is probably my favorite if I HAD to pick ... but really, they are all very good!

Wow! All of these are stunning, but my favorite would have to be the small creek with all the lovely colors. Second fave is the last one. Beautiful.

Troy, I love them all. Yellowstone is my favorite National park also. 2 years ago when we lived in Utah my daughter and I drove all night long with her boyfriend to go hear the elk bugle in the fall. It was just around this time, one of the last weekend's the park was open to motor vehicle traffic. We finally found some elk and heard them bugle just before nightfall. Then we drove all night to get home. We were up for 24 hours straight but it was well worth it. I want to go again. You have taken me there today. Tell Martha thank you for her photo also. All of the colors and compostitions are just perfect!

I could never pick a favorite from Yellowstone, I like them all. And can't agree more Yellowstone is my favorite National Park also, it is the crown jewel.

Like your Alaska shots I can't wait to see more from Yellowstone. I check in often, I just don't always have time to comment with my schedule.

I very much enjoyed the Yellowstone photos. I was there (only time) in the summer of 1991, I think a year or two after the last *big* fire. The undergrowth was just starting to reemerge. Wish the snapshots I took there were as good/interesting as your shots. Ah.. wishful thinking! My memories, however, are not out of focus, blurred or faded.
