Waiting for the Return
Of the winter birds
We are impatiently waiting for the return of the wintering birds here in North Texas.
Here are the last views back at the first of the year in Early Spring.
Where are those Geese and Goldfinches??????

Aww! They're so pretty! Are you feeding them thistle?
I've never seen so many goldfinches at once; they're beautiful!
I love birds, but photographing them is an ongoing challenge...I enjoyed these shots very much. Thanks for sharing!
They're on their way! I promise.
Pretty sure they aren't here in Australia though...
Most of the birds in my area aren't migratory, they just stay put all year round, so I've never "waited" for the return of birds. Great pics, thanks for sharing
Hi Troy and Martha, what a wealth of finches!
I only wish snow geese came to the southern hemisphere. Good luck with your waiting.
Cheers, Arija
They'll come eventually :-). Very nice pictures.
I so love the birds and you got some great shots. I always enjoy the american goldfinch.
Great gathering of the birds, great shots.
I had never seen a goldfinch - american or otherwise - before .. they are just lovely ..as are the geese
:-Daryl
The Canada Geese are headed south, but whether that's to Texas or elsewhere I can't say. I'm sure most of the local golf courses would be happy to pack some up and send them to you.
Great photos!
This is a veritable goldfinch convention. What a welcoming sight!
Troy: What a great group of Goldfunch and geese you have shown. I saw one Snow Goose this year and was thrilled.
Beautiful and lovely.

They look like a cross between our siskins ad goldfinches. So many, so wonderful.
Great shots, I especially like the one with the geese.
Cheers

like your birdies...looking forward to future photos of them from you.
have a good week.
Those goldfinches are wonderful.
No finches yet, but we had a junco yesterday. We have lots of "winter" birds right now. Lot more tits and chickadees and wrens with a couple of ruby crowned kinglets and nuthatches, and the downy is back. Love our birds!
Super pics, sir. We get the snow geese in March at Freeze Out Lake. It seems like there are millions... It is quite warm here still maybe they are lingering on the way.
Do you get many owls?
I am so envious of all your goldfinches! Pretty photo of them! I've just been seeing the house and purple finch as of late.
What beautiful snow geese in one place. Love the finches as well. I don't think we see snow geese here
Migration has seemed slow and late here in nebraska. Don't think it's been cold enough up north to force the geese south. Never fear though, they are coming...
You had a whole mini flock of those finches. They're so pretty. And that was a lot of geese! Nice shots. :-)
Seasons have been invented for that purpose :birds migration. Such a fine spectacle !
They are so pretty!! I love it that they are many of them :D The snowgeese look beautiful too. Never seen both birds for real though in my world though:). I hope someday.
I wondered where all of our birds went! I miss their songs in the trees. I invite you to come see the Hulks, a unique aspect of Powell River, BC. - Margy
nice backyard you have there -
I'm sure the Goldfinches must be on their way, because they passed through here in huge numbers a few weeks ago :-) I fed them well for their journey! That is a lovely photo of them!
Troy, over here we have sparrows in spades! We also have lesser goldfinches. I haven't seen an American since I moved down here from Utah!
the gold finches are not here its too cold! hard to believe its too cold in Georgia but... alas... the photos are lovely!
Happy Tuesday!
Your bird pictures are always great!
Our winter birds started arriving here in the Valley in October. Now, they are everywhere. Pappy
WOW...so many of them. I guess we are going to get a bonanza of images on these goldfinches...Thomas
I think a flock of them just left here. Don't know what the flying time from Ontario to Texas is though....
Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. Your comment was much appreciated!
Beautiful colour on such dark dank days.
