The Sky Clears
It had been raining for most of the morning while we were bird watching (birding). It was lunch time, so we drove to the beach and sat in the rain, watching the waves crash in, and ate our lunch in the 4Runner. By the time we had finished dessert, the sky was clearing. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves. I guess the rain scared everyone off. The tide had been steadily going out and revealing the treasures of the sea left behind on the beach.

There is always beauty and sometimes....
Something valuable....
Something interesting....
Something collectible....
And for some, maybe something disgusting....
Leave a comment and let us know what interesting things you have found on the beach.
What is your favorite beach?
We never saw a beach that we didn't like.
We never saw a beach that we didn't like.
Good capture, I am a little jealous. You get to go the the beach and we are bundled up in the cold.
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a beautiful capture!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Love the colours on the beach agains the sky!
ReplyDeleteI love beach collecting too. Sea glass used to be my favourite, but that's getting harder to find now that the world has switched to plastic (blah!)
ReplyDeleteI loved your post; thank you for sharing the beautiful photos!
Oh, that looks wonderful, especially when enlarged. I love to collect shells and beach glass, when we go "down the shore," as we call it in New Jersey. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo. I love its atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteI like every beach which is clean (no litter or so) and is not crowded:-)
Happy skywatching.
Isn't that the truth on never visiting a beach which didn't speak to me in some way. Very lovely photo, sir.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was one of those treasured moments. My favourite beach is at the Maitland River Mouth. I have done some posts on it. Btw great shot.
ReplyDeleteLand-locked as I have been for most of my life, I haven't visited very many beaches. However, I did vacation in Nassau back in the 70's and fell in love with Emerald Beach. Beautiful green water, clear as crystal, it was... at least in those days.
ReplyDeleteLovely Sky/Land/Water Watch photo.
Hi Troy and Martha,
ReplyDeleteYou have lots of storms, good thing is that they give nice sky's. hope you are safe?

ReplyDeletebeautiful landscape.
ReplyDeleteTroy: What a neat photo of the empty beach and the cloudy sky.
ReplyDeleteI like your beachphoto too. Nice day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...I love the beaches on the east coast. Growing up on the west coast, I enjoy visiting as many beaches on the east coast as I can!
ReplyDeleteEven under the rain, staying sat under the rain is bearable. I would easily change my rain in a big city against yours. Just to allow me to breathe.
ReplyDeleteHave a pleasant week-end, Martha and Troy
great photo ..we just got in texas a few days ago and we are enjoying it so much!
ReplyDeleteNow that was worth sticking around for!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite beach is St Pete Beach, Florida on the Gulf Coast.
ReplyDeleteThe beach to yourselves in a brewing storm? Sounds wonderful. Hope you stayed for the duration.
ReplyDeleteAlways beauty at a beach even on a bad day. I think you found a lot of beauty here after the storm!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite beaches are the Outer Banks around Nags Head, NC.
I got to know my downtown for this sky watch.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Great shot and Post.
ReplyDeleteFav beach is at St Ives Cornwall, Julie (DW) collects shells and pebbles for her Art.
I love the shot and also what you said in the post. One of the sadder things I've seen on a beach was when I was a teen visiting my sister who lives in Nantucket, Mass. There was a dead whale on the beach. Their dog rolled on it and the smell was disgusting. I probably should have answered your question with some of the many beautiful things I've found on NC beaches where I spend a lot of time but the whale was what sprung to mind. My garden is filled with colored stones and shells I've found on the beach so I guess I'll end with something pleasant.
ReplyDeleteWhy must you tease me with the thought of warmth? :) I love this picture, nice job!
ReplyDeletehmmmm....lovely sky... that really looks pretty warm place.. wish it will happened here in where i live sometime soon... cold weather sucks a lot!!!

I absolutely love the sky in this picture. What a great shot. I will have to remember next week to make my post much earlier.
Happy SWF:-)))
I love the beach. Probably the one I've spent the most time at is Myrtle Beach in November. My in-laws go down for the month almost every year. We went down for about 7-10 days 3 or 4 years in a row to be with them. Now with my oldest in high school we won't leave for that long because it's too hard for her. But I would spend hours walking on that beach and looking for shells and just enjoying myself. Usually I would be one of the 1st people on the beach each morning. I found all kinds of shells, but one of the most beautiful things I found was a sea urchin. When you put them in bleach they have the most delicate shell inside.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your photo with us.
This photo is literally glowing! Just beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite beach is on Edisto Island, SC. We always camp there and we feel like we're shipwrecked on a deserted island.
Happy Sky Watch Friday!

The picture of the beach is wonderful. I never get to an ocean or a lake so it's fantastic to have people like you help show what a beautiful world we live in. I just started blogging, so I have a lot to learn and I'm glad your blog was one of the first I visited. I do have one SkyWatch Friday picture up and going that you can see. Thanks again for all of your photos and entries. VRH
ReplyDeleteMy fave beach is Eva Beach, in Hawaii!
ReplyDeletebeautiful! wish I was there :)
ReplyDeleteI always like the beach when it's somewhat deserted. And right before or after a storm the air feels magical, whether you're at a beach or not.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos - happy skywatch!
Amazing, just like the "old West".
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely stretch of deserted beach … just the way I like to walk it ;--)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Any beach is good for me even the beaches around Lake Erie...
ReplyDeleteNew Rambling Woods Site
What a beautiful shot! Wonderful colors in the sky and sand.
ReplyDeleteTroy, beautiful bits of beach and sky and treasures on the sand. The grasses look sharp against the stormy sky, like the teeth of a comb set on edge.
ReplyDeleteThat is a truly lovely shot. Well taken, excellent

When we do get to the beach, being landlocked as we are here. We like the Oregon beaches from Astoria to New Port. Thanks for making me remember!
