My World Tuesday, Part 6

My World Texas,
Based in Ft. Worth, Texas

Today in Texas
Dreaming of Warmer Weather
and one of Texas Beaches on the Gulf of Mexico

One of our favorite parts of Texas.
The Bolivar Beach on the Gulf of Mexico.
It's 300 miles from Ft. Worth as the Crow flies.
It's a lot further if you take the back roads like we do.
The photos were taken while we were on a trip to the coast,
during the Spring Migration looking for migrating Warblers, 3/22/08.

(Click on the photos for full page views)

Early Morning Beach
Bolivar Peninsula

I am sure it will be sad to return to this area next Spring.
Huge amounts of the beach were lost to Hurricane Ike.
It was sad that so many people lost their homes to this devasting hurricane.

Beach Evening Primrose
Back lighting by early morning Sun

Galveston Bay and Bolivar Peninsula

Photo locations: 29 deg 32' North, 94 deg 25' West

There were no shorebirds coming by,
so Martha was looking for shells and other treasures,
and I was photographing early wildflowers.

To see Texas' 624 mile coastline map (tidewater), (click here),
from the Sabine River Pass entrance in the NE to the Rio Grande mouth in the SW.

Everyone has different perceptions of color.
How would you describe the shade of yellow of the Primrose?

Leave a comment. I'll try to return the favor.

Scroll down one post for a view of the beach 6 weeks later.

  5. Beautiful seaside. Nature is hard sometimes. But your World is beautiful.

  6. The blue in the sky is amazing! The yellow? Hmmmmm.... It's a pretty bright yellow. I have a bunch of ink colors, and I would call it Yoyo Yellow to match the ink, but that probably doesn't help you.

  7. Troy: Very neat #1, I hope the birds are less effected then what the people were from the disaster.

  13. Blue and yellow like this always remind me of Van Gogh painting, so for me these are so pretty today.

  14. The evening primrose photo is especially beautiful. I really need to get down to south Texas and see some of the beautiful beaches there.

  16. I love the shot of the beach and also of the beautiful primrose. I'm not sure how I'd describe the color other than soft yellow. I'm sorry about all the damage from Ike. We've gone through some major hurricane damage on the NC beaches in the past too, although not from that one.

  17. Turquoise Blue sky, silver ribbon of water and a golden beach, what more could you want! Love the primrose, lemon yellow that it is! Translucent yellow like the filling in a lemon meringue pie!

  18. Awesome beauty, in the traditional sense of "awesome.

As for the yellow of the flower, I think it is its own color, which may be why we have a color known as "primrose" (which I always thought was pink).

  19. I'd call the beach evening primrose butter yellow. It's beautiful. Too bad Ike caused so much damage. It looks so lovely in your photos.

Here where I live it's winter now. The snow came for 4-5 days ago and just now it's -12C outside. What a big different to your place on this world:)

  21. I forgot to say that even if I said that it must be wonderful to spend some time at that beach. I think it's very sad to read about the hurricane and all the people who lost their home! The nature is very hard sometimes!

  30. WOW...beautiful post and a fabulous image to go along. I m talking about the early morning beach. Your pictures are truly amazing when viewed in its full size. You might want to consider changing your template slightly to accomodate larger size of pictures.

  31. I have dreams where I am walking the beach and looking for treasures, I would be combing the beach constantly if I lived near one. The beach along Playa del Carmen ruined me--it had the best treasures of any of the beaches I've yet explored (which are few) and that's where I go in my dreams. I love going to the beach through your blog. But it makes my heart ache a little.

  32. Nice capture. I'm always amused when seeing a car driving on the beach. Up here in New England it is not allowed on most beaches.

  33. Hey, Congratulations on making "Post of the Day". I have been following but not commenting as much on the posts I visit. Bebe and I are going to the Island this weekend to see how much damage was done. We've been several times since the hurricanes, but not to walk the beach. Good Rambling, Pappy

  43. Oh my! That first shot is just awesome. I love it. A beautiful scene and great colours.

The yellow - I don't know how I would describe it. A pale pastel yellow I think. Richer than lemon, not as rich as ochre.
